Three Australian families go on a pilgrimage…

…to the oldest and largest religious festival on Earth, India’s Maha Kumbh Mela, to take a holy dip in the sacred Ganges.

The Misras are devout Hindus who want their adult children to reconnect with traditional Indian culture.

Pushpa Choudhari simply wants her teenagers to experience the massive spectacle, just as she did at their age.

The Turner family come from a farm near Port Macquarie. They want to take their children on a cultural adventure.

Unsure of what’s in store or how they’ll cope, all three families plunge into the Ganges on the most sacred, most crowded and most dangerous day of the festival, joining a record crowd of 30 million pilgrims.
